AI (Artificial Intelligence) is bringing in unfamiliar opportunities, risks, challenges, and even legal questions to our everyday lives. It’s a hot topic — the technology is unexpected, mind blowing, and disruptive. Or is it?
Let’s talk About AI for Production. On Tuesday, July 30 at Studio3 at Project Conclusion Company, San Diego Media Pros is hosting our first educational event on AI. Our first guest is San Diego based media professional Bill Davis of Office Hours Global. Over the last four years, Office Hours has become a global community of over 5,000 media and event professionals who meet every day to learn from each other and forge a new path for their industries.
As a regular show host and contributor, Bill will recap of the history of AI, discuss where the technology is now from a global production perspective, and take a look at how creatives can use it as a tool to enhance workflows. Bill will also share a case study of how AI played a role in the success of the online show's 1560 episodes (and counting!)
Filmmaker Paul Giret will join us as we look at how to use Stable Diffusion, Python, and Touch Designer AI to create animations for any medium.
And filmmaker David Newman will share a fun case study: his recent 48 Hour Film Project short film called Whispers of the Night Market was 100% AI production.
Finally, we will open the floor for discussion on how you are using AI in your current workflows and how you are receiving education. With the group, we will also explore how much control we should exercise or give away in the name of creating with these new tools.
Whether it is utility or generative, AI has been impacting our industries for some time. With the new language models, advancements in machine learning, and computing power with technology, AI has exploded into the mainstream. From ChatGPT or Sora to CapCut, typical production workflows are changing forever.
The future is here. It’s exciting … and a little scary. But we have learned two things from every past disruption in our industry. One is that disruption creates opportunities and the other, well you will just have to join us to find out.

SpeakerS
Bill Davis has been intrigued, inspired and generally fascinated by communications technology since his teens. Pre-pandemic, he worked in radio, television, print, journalism, voiceover performance and most consistently, digital video production. Along the way he ran an ad agency, produced hundreds of commercials, and worked directly with CEOs and high level stakeholders creating marketing and training content for a wide range of corporate clients.
During the earliest days of the pandemic, he found himself part of a new global interactive web community launched by Alex Lindsay called Office Hours Global - where technologists gather daily to answer tech questions live for a worldwide audience. As a regular show host and contributor there, Bill has appeared on well over 1300 of the 1500+ live shows done to date. He can often be found hosting interviews with industry luminaries and guests on the show’s daily panel discussions.
He’s watched video march from broadcast to broadband, signals hop from wires to fiber to wireless - and hot tech topics light up new media discussions from AWS to AI and beyond. And while he seriously can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next, he’s only truly sure of one thing. Change will continue to accelerate in the tech industry. And MANY surprises are yet to come.
