The Art of Interviewing and the Art of Storytelling were the topics from our meeting on Wednesday May 22nd.
Jane Hare of Everon Media shared some great stories and excellent tips and tricks to get the most out of your interviews. She provided some great examples of interview driven storytelling and shared some amusing anecdotes. Jane explained how to set the scene to settle your subject, including the use of an EyeDirect. If you missed any of her tips, be sure to watch the recording!
Then Mike Towe, owner of M2 Video Productions, presented the Art of Storytelling. Mike guided us through the basic three act story structure and how to apply it to corporate video. He demonstrated how to take good sound bites from an interview and weave it into a story that evokes emotion. That video was then contrasted with other content created for the same client that did not speak to the audience nearly as well because it lacked emotion.
“The story is more compelling, more memorable, more of a connection between us than just delivering data. So my challenge to you, is to stop delivering data and start delivering stories for your client.” ~ Mike Towe.
We enjoyed our first visit to Hanger B Studios, which is a very large production space and includes a voice over booth among other amenities. They even had a plane parked inside! Take a look at their space and let them know we sent you.
